One of the things that can make parenting easier for you and help you make the best calls is to know how best to keep your children in the best health. To do this, it’s a good idea to know about some of the conditions and diseases that your child is likely to suffer from as they grow. This may help you know the signs and possible preventions and treatments for these issues, saving you from a panic and helping you do what’s best for your child. Here are five of these diseases and conditions that you may have to help your child manage as time goes by to help you stay informed.

1. Flu

The first disease that you should know about is the flu, which could cause an illness that ranges from mild to severe. It’s a very infectious disease, and some of its symptoms include a fever, a cough, runny or stuffy nose, muscle or body aches, headaches, and fatigue. These signs and symptoms can start very suddenly, but with management, they may not get severe. A good way of managing this infection is by alleviating the discomfort that it causes and also using antiviral drugs.

2. Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Next, Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD is another condition that you should be aware of as a parent. It’s one of the most common Neurobehavioral disorders that can occur in childhood, normally lasting into adulthood despite often being diagnosed in childhood. Some of its signs include the child having trouble with focusing and behaving as they’re expected to. These behaviors can continue, with the symptoms worsening and even being so severe as to cause difficulty with friends, or at home or school. Keep in mind that three out of 10 children with ADHD also had anxiety, according to the CDC.

3. Chickenpox

Another very infectious disease, chickenpox can affect people of all ages if they’ve never gotten either the disease or the vaccine. Its symptoms can range from mild to severe, and they include a rash that begins on the chest, back, and face, with the rash developing into itchy blisters that are filled with water and spread over the whole body. There will also be a fever accompanying this infection, so you should know that a normal fever can range from 100.4 F and 104 F, and anything higher than this warrants visiting a doctor. This is another viral disease, and this means that there’s no treatment other than managing the symptoms.

4. Ear Infections

Ear infections are another common disease that can affect children, and these can also range in severity. This means that they can be mild and possible for the body to fight off, or they may be more severe and call for the use of antibacterial treatment from a doctor. If you’re concerned as a result of the pain being severe, the conditions getting worse, or even fluid coming out of the ear, it’s a good idea to head to a doctor and get an examination done so they advise you on the best way to proceed.

5. Mental Diseases

Last but not least, anyone can suffer from mental illnesses other than ADHD, and it’s important to get these treated as soon as possible. Different diseases come with a range of signs and symptoms. In this case, it could interest you to learn that 70% of patients who had treatment-resistant medication and who were started on an oral antidepressant got an improvement in intranasal esketamine. This compared to just more than half of the group that didn’t receive the medication, according to Yale Medicine.

While it may be impossible to prevent your child from ever getting sick, it can help when you know the signs and symptoms to expect. This is going to help you know how to treat them as well, or even to prevent them. As a result, you can save your child considerable pain and discomfort, as well as expensive trips to the emergency room.
